Huaneng Karamay 320MW Optical Storage Chong Power Station is a landmark new energy project built by Huaneng Group in Karamay, Xinjiang. It aims to promote the green transformation of local energy structure through the deep integration of photovoltaic power generation, energy storage system and charging facilities. Relying on Karamay's annual average sunshine resources of more than 3000 hours and the "double carbon" policy support, the project takes 320MW photovoltaic installation as the core, supporting energy storage and charging facilities, and forms an integrated mode of "power generation, energy storage and application". Its core objectives include improving the proportion of clean energy, optimizing grid stability and serving new energy transportation, and helping Karamay transform from a traditional energy base to a green low-carbon city.
The project adopts high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic modules, with an expected annual power generation of 500 million kilowatt hours. Combined with an energy storage system (with a scale of about 64MWh) and intelligent charging facilities, a multi energy complementary system is constructed. The energy storage system uses lithium iron phosphate battery or flow battery technology to achieve smoothing of photovoltaic output fluctuations and grid peak and frequency regulation; Charging facilities include DC fast charging, AC slow charging, and hydrogen refueling, covering public transportation, logistics, and private car scenarios. In addition, the project provides green power support for high energy consuming industries such as data centers through the synergy of "photovoltaic+energy storage", and explores innovative paths of "green power hydrogen production hydrogen energy transportation", forming a technological linkage between energy and transportation fields.
This project not only has significant economic benefits, but also enhances the return rate through green electricity trading and carbon reduction benefits, and drives the development of the local photovoltaic and energy storage industry chains, creating employment opportunities. On the environmental level, the annual reduction of carbon dioxide emissions is about 400000 tons, reducing the emissions of sulfides and nitrogen oxides, and helping to improve regional air quality. More importantly, as a benchmark project for the integration of light, storage and Chongming in northwest China, its "green power, energy storage and application" model provides a replicable energy transformation path for similar regions, promotes the deep integration of energy and transportation, lays the foundation for Karamay to build a "zero carbon city", and highlights the innovative leadership role of Huaneng Group in the field of new energy.
